Business Development Director [Full time staff]

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Director-level Business Development person with a proven track record of driving sales in the sustainable business marketplace and in turn driving market leading revenue growth across our integrated media platform. The BD Director must be a leader in the art of creating, positioning, selling and managing integrated programs, including Live Event Sponsorships, Annualized Corporate Memberships and Digital Platforms and clearly demonstrate the ability to articulate value of the robust offering of a suite of services to senior-level executives in Global 1000 companies. The BD Director must possess a passion for sustainability and a strong desire to change the way business is done today. He/she must be able to function and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and bring an ability to influence and persuade internal and external partners & team members. Analytical and data driven decision making skills are highly desirable along with a clear communication style.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver (in first 12 months) annualized sales of US$600K through the creation and ongoing management of a Sales Pipeline that is both self-generated as well as generated by internal Business Development processes
  • Seek to engage with Global 1000 companies horizontally and vertically, finding the decision maker and crafting custom engagement opportunities
  • Grow revenue both nationally & internationally
  • Work closely with the Head of Business Development to execute an annual membership renewal program to ensure optimized renewals as well as account-centric up-sell activities
  • Actively contribute to SB’s mission and growth opportunities across all business / product suites
  • Set metrics for success for each service offering
  • Develop global sponsorship packages (in conjunction with Marketing and Event Operations teams) to include;
    • ­
    • Digital outreach
    • ­
    • On-site customer service program
    • ­
    • Package/customize multiple event & digital programs, globally
  • Excellent written, communication & presentation skills
  • Experience using a CRM in your daily work is required; Knowledge of Salesforce is highly desirable

  • 8-10 years’ experience in strategic-level business development and sales environment
  • Proactive, engaged & innovative thought leader and subject matter expert in Sustainability
  • Demonstrated track record of solid sales performance driving revenue growth
  • Results driven & customer centric

  • Accountable in all actions and displaying unquestionable integrity and trust
  • Communicates openly & encourages feedback
  • Collaborative in nature
  • Comfortable presenting to Senior Executives, CEOs, CMOs & CSOs
  • Expert client service experience and proven ability to inspire and motivate teams
  • Entrepreneurial experience a plus
  • Innovative & creative; a natural out-of- the-box thinker
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of cultivating relationships & developing proposals
  • MBA preferred
