Summary of the role:

The Director, Audience Marketing & Sales, is responsible for strategy and execution for lead generation, community and audience development, and revenue focused marketing for live events. They should have a solid, demonstrated track record driving attendee revenue and audience growth in the conference and event industry. They will be responsible for: 1) delivering attendee revenue goals for Sustainable Brands owned & operated events, 2) oversight and development of marketing objectives and strategies for sponsorship & attendee revenue, and 3) executing on the company-wide community and audience pipeline development. They will work with Global Brand Services team to develop monthly, quarterly, yearly and product specific marketing budgets. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver against Live Event attendee revenue goals that are set in collaboration with the senior management team
  • Create and lead online and offline strategies for data-driven marketing efforts to support live event attendee and sponsorship revenue goals
  • Champion our customer segmentation, targeting & personalization strategies; ensure unique, relevant experiences for customers, analyze and optimize continuously while driving customer leads through the purchase funnel.
  • Translate top of funnel leads (from newsletters and content website traffic) into lead flow and convert to attendee sales
  • Upgrade our marketing capabilities across the board,
    • Online: leveraging fresh ideas and industry best practices to create new processes, tools, and capabilities including geo-targeting, industry-targeting, leveraging customer insights, rapid testing.
    • Offline: Creative ideas that reach our customers where they are; Print, phone, direct, face to face, events, etc.
  • Create strategy for non demand generation and sales outreach for product microsites
  • Create and implement successful lead nurture campaigns
  • Design and implement customer loyalty and cross-sell initiatives, remarketing, SEO/SEM strategies to improve acquisition of customers for live events
  • Manage and oversee marketing operations technologies including, but not limited to Marketo, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Rain King and Google Analytics
  • In collaboration with Live Event Line of Business owner, set product planning and pricing strategies

About You/Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of work experience in marketing, product or general management with specific online marketing experience.
  • 3 years of experience managing a marketing team
  • Demonstrated track record of driving attendee revenue and audience growth in the conference and event industry; ideally in the sustainability or brand marketing conference and event industry.
  • Strong experience driving revenue through customer acquisition strategies.
  • Experience building, managing, and reforecasting budgets.
  • You are awesome at developing and optimizing high performing, targeted email based programs in B2B environments
  • You know how to cut through the distraction and deliver on a deadline.
  • You’ve successfully managed third party marketing automation and/or CRM software solutions (Marketo, Salesforce).
  • You are highly collaborative and, despite high-pressure situations with tight deadlines, you are able to work gracefully and productively with cross-functional teams from all backgrounds.
  • You know how to operate effectively in a scaling, dynamic environment.
