The Gnome's Got Game
In October 2010 and April 2011, Travelocity's Travel for Good program engaged its passionate Fans and Followers in a series of Twitter scavenger hunts. For each scavenger hunt, The Roaming Gnome hid in a green hotel and Tweeted green clues about his location. The first person to decode the clues and arrive at the right location won a free stay at a green property.
This fun game drove awareness about green hotels in Las Vegas and New York City, stimulated lots of local media, attracted new Fans and Followers to Travelocity's social networks, and generated green hotel bookings.
This session will focus on how to harness your social media networks for fun--while keeping a sharp eye on the bottom line and your overall sustainability message and mission.
This will be a look at two different case studies: The Roaming Gnome's Green Tour of Las Vegas and The Roaming Gnome's Earth Day Adventure in New York City. For both, Travelocity harnessed the power of gaming and Twitter to create buzz and bookings.
