Lessons in innovating packaging technology.  PepsiCo has recently introduced a new team to their company – the Advanced Research Division. Its team members are devoted to innovating entirely new technologies and ways to make products as well as package those products for their many businesses and brands around the world. This is the story of PepsiCo’s mission - Performance with Purpose - and what it means to deliver on that mission through packaging technology.

Rocco Papalia, Senior Vice President of PepsiCo’s Advanced Research Division, speaks to the SB’11 community about food packaging technology and the challenges of transforming a petroleum-based package into a renewable and degradable product. He shares the difficulties of physically turning bio-degradable material into a chip bag, communicates their marketing approaches and how they fared with consumers, and shares lessons learned from their experience.
