Unlocking Sustainability's Hidden Assets - Giulio Quaggiotto

How can organisations change the frame under which they look at people to unlock innovation? In this video from Sustainable Brands '16 Barcelona, Giulio Quaggiotto, a senior program manager at NESTA, will show how mapping assets rather than needs is a way to foster distributed R&D – as examples from the development sector show.

Among other recommendations, Quaggiotto suggests that innovators do not limit the landscape of the solutions, and look for bottom-up approaches to solving development challenges, providing examples of health patients who have found ways to ease their ailments and young people who have already overcome unemployment. He asserts that this type of approach - seeking solutions before examining the problem in depth - allows innovators to design things with a more wide and creative approach.
