Stora Enso is transforming itself from a traditional pulp and paper brand to a renewable materials brand. Aiming to replace non-renewable materials, the company is developing new, innovative products and services based on wood and other biomass which does not compete with food. With long traditions in sustainable forestry practices, the company is now focusing on making more out of the valuable raw material, wood, to create solutions to meet global challenges related to resource scarcity, growing population and land use issues. As part of that journey, Stora Enso is finding exciting new markets and partners. In one such example, textiles and fashion brand Marimekko and Stora Enso are working together to find solutions based on new types of textile fibers made of wood, a sustainable raw material that could potentially help shape the future of sustainable fashion.
