The U.S. Cities Sustainable Development Goals Index 2017

Despite boasting the world’s richest large economy, the United States' performance on a range of indicators relating to quality of life, economic opportunity and environmental management is lagging. Nowhere is this more apparent than in American cities, which are home to 62.7 percent of the domestic population.

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s US Cities Sustainable Development Goals Index 2017 aims to set a framework for action and help urban leaders address the many sustainable development challenges affecting their cities. Synthesizing data available today across 49 indicators spanning 16 of the 17 Sustainable Development goals, the Index provides a more holistic and comprehensive assessment of sustainable development challenges faced by the 100 most populous cities across the country.
