EU Cell Companies Collaborating on Universal Charger

July 9th, 2009 - Last week ten major mobile companies issued a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing to collaborate in making a universal cell phone charger. Currently, the electronic waste generated from throwing away incompatible chargers is literally thousands of tons.

The first generation of universal charger should be on the market in the EU by 2010. Ten companies signed on to the memorandum.
