Human Safety Startups Get Cash Injection
October 4, 2012
The first year of their partnership saw investments in three human safety related firms:
- StreetOwl – saves the lives of teen drivers by incentivizing them to drive more safely
- DIIME – improves infant and maternal health outcomes in the developing world
- CheckInOn.Me – a proactive, automated personal safety system.
Hub Ventures announced yesterday at SOCAP12 that it will reserve slots in its 2013 cohort for three more human safety-focused startups. The accelerator program gives companies access to mentors, business development resources, and encourages companies to rent space at HUB SoMa.
In 2012, a total of 7 companies, including the 3 firms listed above, took part in the accelerator program. Each startup team receives up to $20,000 from LVD and will compete for up to $75,000 of follow-on funding at the end of the program.
Hub Ventures is now taking applications for its 2013 cohort.
