Logistics clusters can provide key sustainability benefits
A hyper-connected network of logistics clusters could play a key role in achieving the European Union’s goal of creating a sustainable, more efficient freight transportation system. An EU-backed research initiative called Clusters 2.0 is laying the groundwork for such a network by developing ways to link freight hubs via the physical internet.

BASF's Interceptor® mosquito nets help protect people from malaria.
At the Malaria Summit in London on April 18, 2018, BASF and other leading crop protection companies announced their collaboration to fight this disease. The initiative, named “ZERO by 40”, has been established by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The participating companies signed a commitment to support the research, development and supply of products to combat malaria and contribute to the eradication of the disease by 2040.

The team’s first project uses pottery cull, iron slag, and leftover glazes and enamel powder for a line of ceramic tiles, which the company expects to begin marketing under the Ann Sacks brand in 2019.
