Braskem and Haldor Topsoe signed a technological cooperation agreement to develop a pioneering route to produce monoethylene glycol (MEG) from sugar. The agreement calls for the construction of a demonstration plant in Denmark, with operation slated to begin in 2019.

Compared to 2015, BillerudKorsnäs has increased their scores by 5 percentage points in the subcategories Responsible Fibre Sourcing and Clean Manufacturing, leading also to a better overall score.

Research partnerships with IRRI to accelerate adoption of new technologies, such as herbicide-tolerant hybrid rice for direct seeding. Direct seeding rice requires less water and produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
