  Virgin America, Alaska Airlines, Air France Ranked Top Green Carriers
Virgin America is the greenest overall U.S. airline, followed by Alaska Airlines, according to Greenopia’s latest rankings. The online green directory also published its first ratings of European airlines, finding Air France to be the top performer by a wide margin. Presently, air travel is estimated to make up approximately two percent of the United States’ total carbon footprint. Although this figure is dispersed amongst more than one hundred US airlines, there is still a wide variability of carbon efficiencies and environmental initiatives between these companies.

  Etsy Certified as B Corporation
Etsy, the e-commerce platform for independent, creative businesses, has joined the growing ranks of companies certified for a focus on using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B Corporations meet standards of social and environmental performance set by the nonprofit B Lab. They also legally expand their corporate responsibilities to include consideration of stakeholder interests. As of January 2012, there are more than 515 Certified B Corporations from over 50 industries, such as consulting, solar energy, and law.
