A a growing number of states are passing benefit corporation legislation, which changes the rules for an elite group of companies that aim to meet higher standards of accountability and transparency.

  M&S, Ford Mark Progress with Latest Sustainability Reports
Marks & Spencer (M&S) now recycles 100 percent of its waste with nothing going to landfill, according to the company's latest sustainability report, which provides an update on the first five years of the company's comprehensive sustainability program. And Ford announced a goal to reduce by 25 percent the amount of energy it uses to produce a vehicle by 2016. The reduction is on top of 22 percent already achieved over the last 6 years.

  Yoplait, EsteĆ© Lauder Among Brands Launching How2Recycle Labels
Several major consumer brands this summer will introduce the How2Recycle Label, a voluntary recycling label developed by the nonprofit GreenBlue and its Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC). The goal of the How2Recycle Label is to reduce consumer confusion in the U.S. with a clear and consistent recycling label and corresponding informational website.
