Summary:

Reporting directly to the CEO, this position leads the product development and project management of Sustainable Brands’ existing and potential global partnerships, conferences, and business lines. This is a full time position based in our San Francisco office, for which we offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, with full health, dental, vision benefits, and retirement contributions.

Product Management

  • Lead the international business development and expansion into key strategic markets.
  • Oversee and manage all existing partnerships, contracts, and agreements on a global level.
  • Lead researching and reporting on global sustainability landscape as it pertains to our existing and strategic markets.
  • Lead analysis on all current sponsors of international partnered events, identifying business opportunities for new global sponsors, and communicating to headquarters’ Business Development team updates from global partners as well as new opportunities.
  • Update & implement Sales Force and other software management tools (Dropbox, Brandfolder, etc.) across all partners.
  • Analyze and define opportunities to apply existing products with our international partners including digital sponsorship, content, marketing, corporate membership, and event opportunities.
  • Lead, research, and assist on global partnerships for media, marketing, and promotion of our international partner events.
  • Oversee and manage the P&L for the international business line.
  • Regularly check-in and communicate with partners to identify current opportunities, new business opportunities, and potential clients.
  • Liaise with brands to engage on a global level, requiring effective communication, organization, and strategic thinking
  • Respond to and field all international inquiries and requests coming through SB globalnewsletters, contact forms, and more.

Project Management

  • Oversee, coordinate, and liaise with international partners on the execution of their local licensed conferences.
  • Manage distribution and aggregation of branded materials, resources, tools and templates with all international partners.
  • Research, brainstorm, and implement new tools and build efficiency around existing processes.
  • Manage partner onboarding, event reporting & procedures, and event wrap-up processes and documents.
  • Regularly communicate and check-in with partners on event operations to identify program, branding, and revenue needs.
  • Lead international speaker recruitment for all partnered events, helping recruit speakers from our global community to join local programs. Track, report, and update all invitations. Manage and oversee global speaker tracking.
  • Assist and coordinate marketing of our international partner events in conjuncture with our US Marketing team and local partner teams, including distribution / editing of press releases, newsletters, social media, and more
  • Manage and oversee international partners' social media (content and distribution) to ensure brand consistency and application of brand guidelines.
  • Supervise creation of international event micro sites, working with developers, marketing, and web teams.
  • Oversee partner events and meetings at SB San Diego conferences.
  • Assist and delegate volunteers interested in participating in our global events.

Other

  • Lead and manage international budgeting, financial analysis, and profit margin analysis.

  • Create, update, and collaborate with CEO on International Yearly Plan, KPIs, and strategy.
  • Effectively communicate with all SB staff to provide regular updates on the international business, partners, and partnerships.
  • Manage interns, contract workers, or any other volunteer positions.

About You

With every hire we are looking to expand the knowledge and experience of our team, but keep our core principles of personnel: Intelligence, incessant curiosity or passion for learning, self-confidence and generosity/kindness. If you are a good fit for this role, you are extremely service oriented and diplomatic, able to be steady in communicating with very different cultures. Ideally you would have had a substantial amount of international travel under your belt, with at least one other language on board. You understand international currencies and tax issues at a basic level.You're a systems thinker who can learn our internal processes and people's roles quickly, assess opportunities to leverage existing, in-house tools for the benefit of our partners, and you are detail oriented enough to draft contracts and ensure their accuracy.

Developer Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support front end web site and landing pages

  • Create daily and weekly marketing emails in html

  • Integrate the website with several other platforms like Google Analytics, Adwords, Marketo etc.

  • Develop and test across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices, including smart phones and tablets

  • Ability to articulate and understand design - while balancing form and function

  • Manage time across multiple projects and tasks in a deadline-driven, team environment

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

Summary:  Part-time internship open to a passionate, dedicated individual looking to gain experience at the intersection where business meets sustainability.  He/she will also coordinate fulfillment of all sponsorship agreements after signing – both live events and digital, alongside managing those relationships before, during and after the conferences. Recruits in-kind donor/sponsors and manages the process from start to finish.

About the Position:

Sustainable Brands ’16 is the 10th annual conference where we bring together business executives from all over the world for four amazingly packed days of plenaries, breakouts, networking events, an Activation Hub with over 100 exhibitors, an innovation open, and so much more. You’ll be working directly with the Sponsorship & Expo Manager and the whole Operations team at SB, responsible for the coordination of exhibitors at the Activation Hub, executing on all plans for the conference, overseeing the registration process for sponsors, fulfillment of sponsor agreements, and making sure the sales and operations teams play nice among many other things.  This internship also includes fulfillment of our digital partners, including web advertisement management, profiles, etc.  Although this is an unpaid internship, the position includes travel & expenses to San Diego for the conference from June 6 – 9, and please also keep in mind; we are always looking for qualified individuals to join our team, so there is plenty of potential for future employment for the right candidate.


About You:

You are passionate about sustainability playing a role in the business space. You are detail-oriented, great at organizing and planning, and can easily multi-task without getting too overwhelmed. You are eager and willing to learn, and above all you can do so in a fast-paced work environment.  You are an effective and professional communicator. You are good at working in a team, but can be responsible for your own tasks and can take initiative when necessary. You are motivated and self-disciplined and can see a project through from start to finish without a lot of hand-holding. Multi-media skills such as audio/video editing or graphic design skills would be a great bonus. And most importantly, you are willing and able to go above and beyond all the while having a fun-loving attitude!


Now on to the nitty-gritty…

Duties and Responsibilities Specific to Live Events:

  • Sponsor and Exhibitor Coordination

    • Function as main contact for sponsors post contract signing – with the goal of maximizing the value of their participation for all parties involved

    • Manage and fulfill on deliverables SLM has committed to each sponsor

    • Maintain accurate and detailed record of each sponsor relationship

    • Oversee use of sponsor logos

    • Build and maintain sponsor-related pages of the SB website

    • Live Event

      • Design and execute the on-site sponsor experience, including registration, orientation, recognition, special events, workshops, gifts and receptions

      • Design and execute sponsor communications: hotel, registration, schedule, etc.

      • Create and manage all sponsor registration codes, distributing to the sponsor and onsite registration member

    • Digital

      • Managing all sponsor ad placement on SustainableBrands.com and in corresponding newsletters

      • Manage continuous correspondence with digital partners, calling for editorial content, managing access to the Member News Room

      • Uploading all relevant digital partner content (white papers, press releases, reports, etc.) to Member News Room and connect with Managing Editor to publish sponsored articles.


  • In-kind Donor Recruitment & Management

    • Seek valuable relationships with in-kind donors to help offset event expenses and to create an on-site attendee gift lounge showcasing eco-friendly gifts and products. In Kind needs typically include coffee, tea, wine, liquor, beer, print/signage needs in addition to gift items for the gift lounge

      • Must be able to build rapport with members and community members, so that you are comfortable asking for these items

    • Coordinate shipping with venues/decorator and organize product on-site

    • Ensure fulfillment of in-kind sponsorship agreements



  • Graphic Art Management

    • Coordinate sponsor logo placement; online and on-site

    • In collaboration with the Graphic Designer, develop all on-site signage

    • Liaison with the printer from start to finish product on signage


Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Special Projects

    • Work with the Sponsorship & Expo Manager and the Executive Producer, Live Events on various projects related to sponsor engagement during the live events and conferences throughout the year.

Schedule

Sustainable Brands puts on various live events throughout the year, and you’ll be working directly with the Operations team, who is responsible for the planning and logistics of all of these events:


  • SB’16 San Diego - Our flagship Sustainable Brands conference; June in San Diego

  • New Metrics ’16(event page coming soon!)- 3 day, smaller, deeper dive conference; November in Boston

  • SB'16 Copenhagen  (event page coming soon!) – Our 5th annual European conference is a 3-day multi-track dynamic event


You will be responsible for supporting the team in various tasks such as:


Registration:

  • Assist Marketing team in outreach to help convert incomplete registrations to paid attendees

  • Plan, account for and manage preparation of event materials needed at the registration desk onsite

  • Assist in the preparation of onsite conference materials including

  • Help to plan, design and prepare on-site tool and resource kits for various team members and stakeholders

  • Support attendees with registration help as necessary (helping to update attendee information/provide them log-in details etc)

Digital Support:

  • Manage and update the SB’16 San Diego event mobile app - owning the process from start to finish (data entry, timeline, coordinating with Marketing team)

  • Own the SB Digital Library event updates and maintenance

  • Update event webpages as directed to ensure event pages communicate latest and most up-to-date information

Attendee Special Events:

  • Assist the Event Operations Team in ideating, planning and strategizing around attendee engagement opportunities and special events at 2016 conferences

  • Assist Sr. Events Manager in recruitment and management of Sustainability Team for SB’16 San Diego

  • Recruit, help to hire, and train your own replacement at the conclusion of the contract


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Borderline obsessive attention to detail

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Above average tech savvy(or eager to learn)

  • Basic HTML knowledge (desired)

  • Experience with Event Planning/Management

  • Customer service focused mindset

  • Multi-media skills such as audio/video editing or graphic design a plus

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a major plus

Schedule

The position is part-time, about 20-25 hours per week, and is based in our San Francisco office. Telecommuting is available on Fridays, but you will work out of our office for the majority of the time. 


What is unique about this position is it’s on a revolving schedule. Meaning that you are responsible for your tasks during the timeframe that you are with SB, and you are also responsible for recruiting and hiring the next volunteer to take your place. One of our goals is to coach you into being able to fulfill this piece of the job.

The timeframe is therefore flexible, to fit with the schedule of the right candidate, but minimum commitment is through the end of June 2016.

Insight Development Research Associate (Volunteer/Intern)

About the Position in 2016:

• Assist with research, design and coordination of Sustainable Brands conference content, supporting program development for flagship annual conferences in the United States and Western Europe, as well as the ground-breaking New Metrics of Sustainable Business series of events;

• Develop research reports and/or case studies to build up and/or update an internal knowledge base on a number of cutting-edge corporate sustainability topics;

• Assist with, and potentially lead, other special projects, which may include co-authoring case studies and white papers;

• Assist with other duties on behalf of the Director of Program Development or the Managing Editor, as needed;

• NOTE: This is an unpaid part-time position and we prefer candidates who can commit at least 20 hours a week. There is some potential to move into a paid leadership position after 3 months, depending on individual performance and the overall growth of the business.

 

About You:

• Recent (or soon-to-be) college or advanced degree graduate (B.A., B.S., M.A., M.S., MBA or equivalent) in Sustainable Business, Social Entrepreneurship/Innovation, Environmental Studies, Economics, Human-Centered Design, Marketing, or related field(s). Some work experience preferred. NOTE: Exceptional candidates still in school will be considered, provided they are ready to make the necessary time commitment;

• Highly motivated self-starter, exceptionally well organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle many activities with grace and good humor;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with ability to generate the trust and respect of all, whether interacting with a global corporate executive, a supplier, or an administrative assistant;

• A team player who communicates well across the organization and views their personal success as integral to the success of the team and the performance of the organization against its goals;
