Being our Digital Marketing Operations Manager:

The temporary Marketing Manager will sit in this seat while a full-time staff member is on maternity leave. The job is open from June 11- October 5, 2018. This person will support the Global Brand Services team in executing the integrated marketing communications plans for our New Metrics '18 and SB'19 Detroit events, and our membership product through targeted, innovative digital marketing strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute integrated marketing communication plans, defining messages to be communicated, targeting audiences and goals to be achieved, that fit with the company’s marketing initiatives and objectives for sustainable business events.
  • Maintain project schedules around marketing deliverables; project manage marketing campaigns.
  • Execute marketing email campaigns to acquire new leads and nurture existing leads to achieve marketing objectives for sustainable business events.
  • Test and optimize to improve open rates, click-through rates, conversion and other relevant KPIs for email campaigns
  • Execute marketing campaign creation, implementation, and technical management of demand generation programs including building, testing, documenting, attributing, and reporting back campaign results
  • Oversee live event microsites, landing pages, and lead generation campaigns to promote events, maximize engagement, and increase conversion rates
  • Develop and execute online advertising strategy, budget and timelines to promote live events and generate new top of the funnel leads on AdWords
  • Oversee and manage marketing tech stack across marketing automation tools (Pardot, Marketo and Mailchimp), analytics tools (Google Analytics), and optimization/productivity tools (Slack, Asana, Basecamp and Evernote).
  • Capture and analyze data from various platforms (such as etouches, Pardot, and Google) to provide KPIs against target goals and identify trends and develop/adjust marketing campaigns to generate growth and maximize acquisition, conversion and retention rates

About You/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Integrated Marketing Communications or related
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing automation platforms with a high proficiency in Marketo, Pardot or Mailchimp
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing operations in digital marketing environment
  • 3+ years of experience in email marketing in B2B industry, and/or in events/sustainability
  • 3+ years of experience in project management
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS/JavaScript plus knowledge of website and email responsive design 
  • Strong analytical skills (including mastery of Microsoft Excel); must be able to manipulate, analyze, and learn from data in order to always improve job performance.
  • Knowledge of environmental and social sustainability practices in a business environment is a plus.

Being the Head of Sales:

This position is responsible for the leadership and management  of all day-to-day, non-attendee revenue generating  sales for the company, ensuring consistent delivery against monthly and yearly revenue performance metrics. You have a proven track record in growing event sponsorship and/or membership revenue.  
Key to success will be the ability to deliver key account sales against a personal revenue target,  a current knowledge of best practices in compensations plans, sales optimization tools and processes, and sponsorship, digital and peer group membership business models that apply to our current lines of business.   We seek someone with the demonstrated ability to bring together a dynamic group of business development professionals into a high-functioning, high-performing, sales team by increasing their learning, collaboration, motivation and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior member of the sales team tasked with establishing and delivering revenue targets, strategy and growth
  • Deeply understand our customer and her/his needs as they unfold
  • Deeply understand our company mission, business/product strategy and unique value proposition; recognizing  new opportunities at the intersection of our USP and unfolding customer needs
  • Clearly articulate & drive forward a vision for revenue growth and execute on stated vision/plan
  • Formulate sales strategy 12-18-24 & 36 month plans
  • Manage, develop & motivate team of account executives, working cross-functionally with the Product Leaders for Events and Membership to meet the target revenue goals.
  • Bring structure and discipline to sales team initiatives through improved use of tools to support greater insight development, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead sponsorship strategy in collaboration with Executive Producer, Events.
  • Develop globally integrated sponsorship packages
  • Grow sponsorships revenue both domestically & internationally
  • Drive sales revenue to meet/exceed company goals
  • Develop and implement a sales structure. Including compensation & bonus plans on an annual basis.
  • Build strong relationships with client roster, and institutionalize relationship building for sales team in order to meet or beat our customer retention metrics.
  • Set key metrics for success in sales initiatives
  • Implement a sponsorship resign program & year-round partner relations support platform
  • Be a thought-leader evangelizing Sustainable Life Media & Sustainable Brands within the for-profit and non-profit sectors.

About You/Experience Required:

  • 10-15 years of experience in a sales function; and at least 5 years of experience managing a sales team
  • Proven track record of event sponsorship and/or growing membership revenue on a global scale
  • You love to lead a team, empowering them to be and do their best each day
  • Strong experience & a demonstrated track record of driving revenue; performance and growth. Experience in the conference/events industry or media industry.
  • Experience building and managing budgets and sales forecasts
  • You know how to cut through the distraction and deliver on a deadline. Even better, you know how to empower and inspire a team to do the same.
  • Salesforce expertise
  • You are highly collaborative and, despite high-pressure situations with tight deadlines, you are able to work gracefully and productively with cross-functional teams from all backgrounds.
  • Address internal staff & client concerns with empathy & effectiveness
