Jacquie Ottman is a pioneer in green marketing, who's been advising Fortune 500 companies and U.S. government ecolabeling programs (Energy Star and USDA Certified Biobased, among others) since 1989.
She's the author of 5 books on green marketing and eco-innovation, including her latest: The New Rules of Green Marketing: Strategies, Tools and Inspiration for Sustainable Branding (Berrett-Koehler, 2011, 252pp). It was named one of the top 40 books on sustainability by Cambridge University (UK). She is also the co-author of, "Making Credible Green Marketing Claims: What Marketers Need to Know about the Updated FTC Green Guides", published by Ad Age in 2013.
In 2013, Ottman's firm launched WeHateToWaste.com, a global online community of influencers and brands united in dialogue and information sharing around ways to advance a no-waste lifestyle, characterized by waste prevention (not just 'management') in the home and office, efficient use of natural resources associated with product use and disposal, and getting the most utility from the resources and energy embedded in the products we buy.
