Gretchen Hancock is Manager, Resource Optimization, for GE.  In this capacity Gretchen has responsibility for globaly company-wide energy and greenhouse gas emissions inventory and reduction programs under Ecomagination and oversees GE’s Resource Optimization Center of Excellence which is based at the GE Global Research Center.  In this capacity she links GE’s strong environmental product portfolio with programs that optimize resources in GE’s plants and supply chains.  In addition to these programs she also provides strategic direction and planning for the corporate EHS team.  Until recently, Gretchen managed GE’s EHS professional development & training activities and oversaw EHS compliance assurance and management system auditing for GE.

From 2003 to 2006, Gretchen led air, transportation, and chemicals reporting compliance at GE Aviation.  She provided hands-on assistance at facilities worldwide on issues including aircraft engine test cell permitting and compliance, implementation of hazardous materials transportation security rules, and compliance around complex chemical reporting regulations.

From 1999 until 2006, Gretchen served as global environmental program manager for GE Aviation’s Engine Services business, where in addition to those compliance responsibilities listed above she also managed wastewater and hazardous waste compliance.  She joined GE as the environmental health and safety manager at Garrett Aviation in Goleta, California.

Prior to joining GE, Gretchen was a senior compliance auditor at Environmental Strategies Corporation (now a part of WSP).  She led audit programs for numerous corporate clients of at operating facilities worldwide, both as part of standard compliance audit programs and also as part of acquisition and divestiture activities.  She led a hazardous waste disposal site approval program for a major chemical manufacturer, and co-led one of the first management system and compliance audits required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Justice (DOJ).    She also gained experience in remedial investigations and feasibility studies, including human health risk assessment, while at ESC.

Gretchen received her B.S. in Geology from Dickinson College.
