Known as Tencel CombiPolish®, the treatment ensures that the resulting textile is smooth and gentle – and that it continues to look great after wear and washing.
The Best Of Both Worlds Tencel is the name of the lyocell fibers from Lenzing, the innovator of this new man-made cellulose fiber category. Lyocell is extracted from wood and resembles the quality of long staple cotton. Textiles made from Tencel are in general highly absorbent, soft, smooth and therefore friendly to the skin. When blending up to 50% Tencel with cotton, the result is a fabric with enhanced strength, sheen, and breathing properties.

For more than ten years, Novozymes has been recognized as one of the most sustainable companies in the world by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which evaluates and ranks leading companies based on their sustainability performance. Once again, on Sep. 10, the DJSI announced that Novozymes scored 90 points out of 100 in the highly competitive Chemical Industry sector of the Index, placing the company among the top 3 percentile of sustainability leaders in their sector.

- Italy will soon become the first country in Europe to legally require "advanced biofuels" in cars and trucks, the BBC reports. The new fuels are made from agricultural waste such as straw rather than crops, and reduce the amount of land taken out of food production.The first commercial scale plant making fuel from straw opened in Italy last year. Beginning in 2018, all fuel suppliers in the country will have to include 0.6 percent advanced biofuel in gasoline and diesel. This will rise to 1 percent by 2022.

Novozymes is one of the 187 companies that has been awarded an A grade for its climate performance, earning a position on this global ranking of corporate efforts to mitigate climate change. The index presents 187 listed companies identified as demonstrating a superior approach to climate change mitigation.

- BASF, Cargill and Novozymes have announced the achievement of another milestone in their joint development of technologies to produce acrylic acid from renewable raw materials. The team has demonstrated the successful conversion of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) to glacial acrylic acid and superabsorbent polymers — polymers that can absorb and retain extremely large amounts of a liquid relative to their own mass, commonly found in products ranging from diapers and other hygiene products. The team has selected the process for further scale-up.

- The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) announced that Novozymes received 86 points out of 100 within their new category, the Chemical Industry Sector. Novozymes’ score is in the top 3 percentile of sustainability leaders in their sector. This year Novozymes achieved the highest score for the Chemical Industry sector in both the Climate Strategy and Environmental Policy categories.
“We are very proud of our achievement, and see this as a result of Novozymes truly prioritizing the integration of sustainability into our business,” says Mads Bodenhoff, Vice President of Novozymes' Corporate Finance.
Novozymes highest increase in scores was found in the Operational Eco-efficiency, Social and Environmental Reporting and Talent Attraction and Retention categories.

- Novozymes and Monsanto say they have discovered several microbes that are demonstrating increased yield in corn and soybeans, a result of ongoing collaborative research into microbial products farmers can use to help meet rising global demand for food stuffs.This year, the companies’ BioAg Alliance conducted research across 170,000 field trial plots in 70 locations throughout the United States. The companies expect to more than double the number of research field plots next season.

- LAUNCH — the strategic collaboration between NASA, NIKE, Inc., the US Department of State and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) — announced Friday it has added the expertise of a host of Scandinavian innovators in its continued search for sustainable materials. LAUNCH teamed up with Nordic-based companies IKEA, Novozymes, Kvadrat, Arla and a number of government institutions to announce LAUNCH Nordic, an initial step in taking the LAUNCH process to innovators around the world.
