A Breakthrough Value-to-Society Approach: How to Calculate a Brand’s Contribution to Society along the Entire Value Chain

If brands are to commit to redefining, redesigning and delivering the Good Life, they need to be equipped with a variety of important tools for the journey, not least of which would be an effective tool to illustrate the extra value generated by purposeful systems-oriented innovation. Chemical leader BASF has created a promising prototype of exactly that type of tool — a breakthrough value-to-society calculator that estimates a brand’s contribution to society along the entire value chain. During SB’17 Detroit, Charlene Wall-Warren, Director of Sustainability at BASF, provided a first glimpse at this innovative piece of German engineering.
