Live Well San Diego: A Visionary Partnership to Define and Measure 10 Quality-of-Life Metrics

With San Diego County, like much of the nation, facing a tidal wave of chronic disease and rising healthcare costs, the region adopted Live Well San Diego, a vision that aligns the efforts of government, businesses, community partners and individuals in one movement to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of all residents. Unified by this shared purpose, the partners defined indicators of success at the outset—including 10 quality-of-life metrics and five pathways to greatest impact—with ongoing progress reported in an open dashboard and data portal. Brand partners including CVS Health, Target and WD-40 are sharing best practices and advancing initiatives that not only benefit their workforce and customers, but also enhance the healthy bottom line of individual companies and economic competition in the region. We learned how Live Well San Diego is advancing the good life at scale and creating a model for others to follow.
