Biomimicry [Film]

Biomimicry is a 20-minute film that highlights examples from around the world of innovative design, engineering and other solutions inspired by nature. Produced by actor-environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio, and narrated by Janine Benyus, founder of Biomimicry 3.8 and the non-profit Biomimicry Institute, this film explores the idea that "the best ideas might not be ours."

The main lessons from nature that Benyus highlights in the film are:

  • Life depends on the local;
  • Life banks on diversity (and rewards cooperation);
  • Life upcycles everything (and wastes nothing); and
  • Life uses safe elements.

The film was directed by Tree Media founder Leila Conners, executive produced by Oliver Stanton, Roee Sharon Peled and George DiCaprio, and was produced by Mathew Schmid and Bryony Schwan.
