How to Embed Sustainability in Sporting Events – The New Climate Framework

Sponsored by:

What does it take to make a sporting event sustainable? NatureBank and Dow will take a look at past Olympic events they were involved in and what steps they took to make these events more sustainable.

NatureBank (formerly Offsetters) partnered with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics to make them the first ever carbon neutral Olympics. They have continued with the legacy from Vancouver 2010 in a partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee. With this experience, NatureBank has been able to support Dow in the development of the Climate Solutions Framework for large-scale events.

As a Worldwide Olympic Partner, Dow is dedicated to helping Olympic Organizing Committees achieve a long-lasting, positive sustainability legacy. Through a framework developed and implemented by Dow, the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games were the first Olympic Games where the direct carbon footprint of the Organizing Committee was fully mitigated before the Opening Ceremony. Today, as the Official Carbon Partner of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Dow is working with the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee on the most comprehensive carbon mitigation program in the history of the Games.
