SC Johnson is Transparent Ahead of Schedule

November 24, 2009 - SC Johnson launched the "" website earlier this year with the purpose of communicating with consumers the ingredients in their products, and now has listed over 200 products on the site with full ingredient disclosure. contains 129 air care products and 76 cleaning products produced by the company, and gives full disclosure on the 169 ingredients that make up those products. The ingredient list contains a consumer friendly explanation, a more technical explanation using the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) and an explanation of purpose for each ingredient. The site will also include full disclosure of preservative and fragrance information within the next 2 years, a step not required by the industry's "right to know" initiative launched in 2008.

Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson said in a statement: "Transparency doesn't mean cherry-picking which things to share and which things to hide. It means opening the door and letting people see what you're made of. We have already included in our ingredient communications the dyes we use in products, and we're committed to communicating the fragrance ingredients and preservatives as well."
