Access to safe drinking water and sanitation is everyone’s right. Just like the right to liberty or the right to a fair public hearing. There’s not a drop of difference. But in the real world, it doesn’t always work that way. This isn’t down to a lack of effort. Every year, billions of dollars are ploughed into projects to improve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services – many of which are exemplary. Yet, progress remains stubbornly slow. Clearly, some fresh thinking and new ways of working are needed. But where to look?

Ørsted and WWF announce partnership to combat climate change
Energy company Ørsted and WWF (the World Wildlife Fund) will partner to fight the impacts of climate change, such as by exploring ways to protect animals and habitats threatened by chronic droughts or rising sea levels. The partnership kicks-off with a “climate safari” in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Eastman has again received Cradle to Cradle Certified™ (C2C) Bronze recognition and, for the first time, has been awarded the Platinum-level Material Health Certificate through December 2019. The certification applies to eight of Eastman’s polymer lines, including Cadence, Eastar, Ecdel, Embrace, Neostar, Provista, Spectar, and Tritan. This is the first time that Eastman products have achieved the highest possible rating for Material Health and the first time that Eastman Tritan™ copolyester has been included in the certification.

DowDuPont™ announced today that it was named a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. FTSE4Good was created by the global index provider, FTSE Russell, and is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

Some 10,000 yards of nylon signage from this year’s AT&T Byron Nelson tournament have gone from the clubhouse to schoolhouses in Dallas and Houston. Using a process known as “upcycling,” AT&T worked with a vendor to transform tournament signs into 1,000 student backpacks.

Up until now, food and beverage materials required a coating such as polyethylene waxes or foils to be FDA compliant.

Mastercard today published its 2017 Corporate Sustainability Report, highlighting the ways in which the company is delivering on its commitment to be a force for good in the world. The company broke new ground this year in its social impact efforts, allocating $500 million from tax savings to advance inclusive growth. It has already contributed an initial $100 million to those initiatives.

More than 3,000 colleagues from 21st Century Fox US businesses came together in June to give back to the communities in which they live and work during the third annual 21CF Impact Week. The program will expand globally later this year, with volunteer events taking place in dozens of cities across Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia through the fall of 2018.
