Summary of the role:

We’re looking for a design student or recent graduate with 1-2 years of design experience to work with us on a flexible, part-time basis. The work is event (project) focused, which means it will ebb and flow with the event cycles. We will give preference to candidates that can work approximately ~3 days/week, starting as soon as possible, and can be flexible with the changing needs of the event cycle (less or more work as required). We work in a remote environment, therefore we need someone who is overly communicative, self-driven, and disciplined in meeting tight deliverables every time. You must have access to a personal laptop, the ability to work a somewhat regular schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Events team to develop marketing materials for live events such as online banners, brochures, physical signage, badge design
  • Design powerpoint templates and sales materials
  • Create and organize Flickr albums before and after events, leaving a visual story for our customers and readers to experience the event
  • Design and layout of print and online advertising
  • Design and layout of content documents such as digital brochures and sales collateral

About You/Experience Required:

  • Design student or recent graduate with 1-2 years of design experience
  • Excellent design and typography skills
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of HTML
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, despite high-pressure situations with tight deadlines
  • Collaborates easily with other teams

Summary of the role:

The Sustainable Brands Membership team seeks an intern to help ensure that our Corporate Members consistently receive an outstanding experience. The Member Experience Intern will be involved in administrative and engagement projects for SB’s global network of Corporate Member organizations. This role will require constant interaction with our Corporate Member Network and is an outstanding opportunity to learn about and keep informed of all the latest corporate sustainability efforts and trends. 

The majority of the work is done online and digitally; therefore, you must be very tech savvy. You will excel in this role if you pride yourself on your extreme attention to detail and clear communication. The SB team works together very closely, supporting each other wherever support is needed.  
You must have access to a personal laptop, the ability to work a somewhat regular schedule, and be able to devote 15-20 hrs/week to the position. The internship receives an hourly wage, and/or university credit if required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Member Engagement Support
    • Supporting member on-boarding 
    • Supporting with member interviews and transcriptions
  • Managing the Member Newsroom
    • Adding news throughout the week
    • Adding original content from member PR contacts
    • Researching member news and staying up to date on corporate sustainability activity
    • Removing/editing member posts as necessary
    • Social media support
  • Member Event Support
    • Helping to create recaps for member events
    • Member meeting logistics support, as needed
    • Creating member directories
    • Tracking event attendance
  • Website/member tracking
    • Detailed tracking to ensure members are utilizing their membership services
  • Managing Digital Content for Members
    • Creating and updating marketing materials
    • Uploading content to website library
    • Adding/deleting member profiles to website
    • Building Member web assets, including brand hubs

About You/Experience Required:

  • College or advanced degree graduate (B.A., B.S., M.A., M.S., MBA or equivalent) in Sustainable Business, Communications, Social Entrepreneurship/Innovation, Economics, Environmental Studies, or related field(s) (Excellent candidates still in school will be considered)
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented, highly motivated self-starter, able to juggle many activities and a high volume of communication with focus, grace and good humor
  • Systems thinker who thrives on understanding the big picture, while still paying close attention to details and subtle nuances
  • High degree of professionalism, able to communicate clearly and competently with senior corporate executives
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, coupled with the ability to generate the trust and respect of a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Being the Head of Sales:

This position is responsible for the leadership and management  of all day-to-day, non-attendee revenue generating  sales for the company, ensuring consistent delivery against monthly and yearly revenue performance metrics. You have a proven track record in growing event sponsorship and/or membership revenue.  
Key to success will be the ability to deliver key account sales against a personal revenue target,  a current knowledge of best practices in compensations plans, sales optimization tools and processes, and sponsorship, digital and peer group membership business models that apply to our current lines of business.   We seek someone with the demonstrated ability to bring together a dynamic group of business development professionals into a high-functioning, high-performing, sales team by increasing their learning, collaboration, motivation and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior member of the sales team tasked with establishing and delivering revenue targets, strategy and growth
  • Deeply understand our customer and her/his needs as they unfold
  • Deeply understand our company mission, business/product strategy and unique value proposition; recognizing  new opportunities at the intersection of our USP and unfolding customer needs
  • Clearly articulate & drive forward a vision for revenue growth and execute on stated vision/plan
  • Formulate sales strategy 12-18-24 & 36 month plans
  • Manage, develop & motivate team of account executives, working cross-functionally with the Product Leaders for Events and Membership to meet the target revenue goals.
  • Bring structure and discipline to sales team initiatives through improved use of tools to support greater insight development, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead sponsorship strategy in collaboration with Executive Producer, Events.
  • Develop globally integrated sponsorship packages
  • Grow sponsorships revenue both domestically & internationally
  • Drive sales revenue to meet/exceed company goals
  • Develop and implement a sales structure. Including compensation & bonus plans on an annual basis.
  • Build strong relationships with client roster, and institutionalize relationship building for sales team in order to meet or beat our customer retention metrics.
  • Set key metrics for success in sales initiatives
  • Implement a sponsorship resign program & year-round partner relations support platform
  • Be a thought-leader evangelizing Sustainable Life Media & Sustainable Brands within the for-profit and non-profit sectors.

About You/Experience Required:

  • 10-15 years of experience in a sales function; and at least 5 years of experience managing a sales team
  • Proven track record of event sponsorship and/or growing membership revenue on a global scale
  • You love to lead a team, empowering them to be and do their best each day
  • Strong experience & a demonstrated track record of driving revenue; performance and growth. Experience in the conference/events industry or media industry.
  • Experience building and managing budgets and sales forecasts
  • You know how to cut through the distraction and deliver on a deadline. Even better, you know how to empower and inspire a team to do the same.
  • Salesforce expertise
  • You are highly collaborative and, despite high-pressure situations with tight deadlines, you are able to work gracefully and productively with cross-functional teams from all backgrounds.
  • Address internal staff & client concerns with empathy & effectiveness
