Rainer has over 15 years of international experience in sustainability consulting with a strong background in business strategy, management systems and finance. His expertise is focused on integration of management strategies to expedite resolution of complex natural resource issues. He has been involved in over 500 large and small environmental, health, safety and energy management system implementations as project manager, lead auditor, and trainer.

Rainer’s recent professional assignments, consulting, auditing and training projects:

  • Management systems for corporate CSR and sustainability; for EHS (including EMSs)
  • Responsible Care Management Systems
  • Greenhouse Gas reporting (Scope 1, 2 and 3)
  • Corporate sustainable development consulting; corporate social responsibility, corporate sustainability
  • EHS and organizational strategy consulting incl. benchmarking
  • Corporate communications and external reporting


Rainer is currently serving as technical expert for the WRI/WBCSD Scope 3 GHG Protocol Supply Chain Initiative. He has worked in diverse geographic locations including most of the contiguous United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, India, Jordan, Belgium, Spain, United Kingdom and Germany.

Rainer has extensive experience in the Automotive, Chemical, Petrochemical and Pharmaceutical Industry and consulted and audited various Fortune 500 and international companies, including Boeing, Siemens, Nissan, Ford, Honda, Evonik - Degussa, ISP, Marathon Petroleum, SUNOCO, Church & Dwight, Pfizer, BASF, Terra Industries, Arch Chemicals, Ashland Chemicals (Drew Division), PQ Corporation, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, WR Grace, OMG, DSM, Delaware North Companies and others.

In 2005, Rainer founded ROC One, LLC with the mission to help organizations realize the market potential of environmental sustainability and align company strategies with sustainability principles. His background in finance and quality enabled Rainer to support a variety of organizations in their quest to integrate sustainability in every facet of business.

Growing up in Germany, Rainer was inducted into sustainability concepts at an early age, learning about waste minimization, recycling and resource efficiency.



Rainer was educated in Germany at the Hochschule Karlsruhe - Technik und Wirtschaft, and the Universität Karlsruhe (TH), graduating in 1996 with a Diploma in Business and Engineering.
