Chris Meyer leads EDF’s work with indigenous peoples in Central and South America, serving as a liaison between indigenous communities and policy makers at the national and international levels.

He works directly with indigenous leaders, communities and organizations to insert indigenous rights and interests into national and international climate policies and to explore best practices for developing economic activities around environmental services. Chris provides strategic counsel to indigenous communities on emerging national and international climate change policies.

Chris’s areas of expertise include tropical deforestation, indigenous peoples of Central and South America and best practices in reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD).
