Jonathan Yohannan

Jonathan Yohannan serves as Vice President of PR at Panera where he manages brand PR, social media, and crisis communication. Before joining Panera in 2013, he was executive vice president and leader of Cone Communications’ Sustainable Business Practices group. Jonathan’s expertise is in corporate social responsibility strategy and communications. Jonathan has worked with clients such as eBay, General Mills, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Nestlé Waters North America, Reebok, Starbucks, Timberland and others. Jonathan specializes in turning business issues and commitments into brand opportunities. He frequently helps clients identify emerging issues, engage with stakeholders and communicate their commitments to disparate audiences. Working with Starbucks, he helped brand and communicate their coffee sourcing practices to key stakeholders, including consumers, employees and influential activist groups. Jonathan led Nestlé Waters’ strategy and communications around its environmental initiatives including the launch of Eco-Shape, a lightweight plastic bottle, and re-source, a bottle made with recycled plastic. He also helped develop and activate Timberland's consumer-facing CR commitment to “Earthkeeping.” Recently, Jonathan played a central role in helping Marshall’s and TJMaxx communicate its CR commitments. Jonathan’s issue experience includes alternative packaging, sourcing, operations, recycling and ingredient selection. Jonathan has presented at key conferences including Sustainable Brands, Conference Board and FMI/GMA on best practices in Sustainability Communications. He is also an adjunct professor at Boston University, teaching corporate communications. Prior to Cone, Jonathan worked at Ketchum, San Francisco. He worked in the Food and Nutrition and Brand practices and was charged with executing PR and marketing initiatives for Sutter Home Winery, Glad and the California Dried Plum Board. Before Ketchum, Jonathan was the marketing manager at Share Our Strength where he developed cause-related marketing partnerships and campaigns. Jonathan is a double alumnus from Boston University, B.A. in political science in 1995 and M.S. in corporate public relations from the College of Communications in 1996.
