Ty Montague

Ty Montague is a natural storyteller. And he’s built a career parlaying this passion into helping businesses harness the power – and profit – of story.

One of the “top 10 creative minds in business,” Montague was renowned as an influential advertising executive, having worked with and led top agencies across North America, including J. Walter Thompson, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Wieden + Kennedy and Chiat Day for more than 20 years. In 2010, he left the world of “traditional advertising” and launched Co:, a brand innovation studio and growth consultancy focused on inventing and reinventing businesses, brands and products through the principles of storydoing™.

Co-founder and co-CEO of Co:, Montague collaborates with high profile, forward-thinking companies – YouTube, Google,  Microsoft, GE and Kohl’s among others – to create authentic, meaningful narratives that are then told primarily through actions, not advertising. This new approach to innovation is the foundation of Montague’s book "True Story: How to Combine Story and Action to Transform Your Business" (Harvard Business Review Press, July 2013).

An engaging speaker, he presents frequently on the themes of creativity and innovation, leadership, and business transformation – providing a clear framework and proven processes for uniting brands and customers through the power of story. Montague’s writing is equally compelling; he contributes regularly to Harvard Business Review online.

Throughout his career Montague pushed boundaries, helping broaden the narrow definition of advertising as a 30-second craft by leveraging the art of storytelling. Named one of the “50 most influential creatives in the past 20 years” by Creativity Magazine, he has solidified his reputation as an innovator in the field. His work has been recognized by a multitude of major industry award programs, including The One Show, Cannes, Communication Arts,
D&AD, Clio and The Effies. His work is also part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Montague sits on boards at The Art Director's Club, The Ad Council and previously on the NYC 2012 Team for the New York City Olympics bids.
